Paying for Therapy
Dr. Varner’s session fee is $175 per 50-minute appointment.
As a private-pay counseling psychologist, she is able to offer personalized, evidence-based care without the restrictions often required by insurance companies.
At Rise & Find Psychological Services, we are an out-of-network provider. This means we do not bill insurance directly and payment is due at the time of your appointment. However, we can provide a monthly superbill upon request. Depending on your plan, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement through your out-or-network benefits.
This page will walk you through more information about our private pay practice, payment options, policies, and processes for out-of-network reimbursement.

Benefits of Private Pay Therapy
Choosing private-pay therapy allows for a more personalized, flexible, and confidential treatment experience. While we are not in-network with insurance companies, many clients find that the benefits of private-pay care align closely with their values and goals.
Private-pay practices often allow clinicians to pursue advanced training and maintain smaller caseloads. This supports high-quality, evidence-based therapy tailored to your needs.
Insurance often dictates:
session frequency
treatment length
required diagnoses
documentation standards
Private pay therapy allows us to determine the pace, structure, and focus of treatment based solely on YOUR needs - not insurance limitations.
Therapy is an investment in your mental health, relationships, and overall well-being.
Options for Payment
Use your personal funds (we accept all major credit / debit cards)
Use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
Seek potential reimbursement using out-of-network insurance benefits
Using Out-of-Network Benefits
-
Ask your health insurance carrier if you have out-of-network benefits for mental health. You may want to then ask about your out-of-network deductible - an amount that you will be required to pay before your carrier begins reimbursing you. Ask what percentage of out-of-network costs will be reimbursed after you meet your deductible. Your carrier may also have an “allowed amount” for individual therapy sessions (CPT code 90834). That means, they could reimburse you for an amount lower than our session fee.
-
If you decide to use your out-of-network benefits for our therapy sessions, we will provide you with a monthly superbly (an itemized receipt with all of the information your insurance needs) that you can submit to your insurance carrier for potential reimbursement.
-
Since we do not have any contracts with insurance companies, reimbursement is not guaranteed. It is your responsibility to confirm your out-of-network benefits prior to starting therapy.
